MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU, Romania - 1st Lt. Nathaniel J. Dumas is officially approved to move forward and take full advantage of Army officer career advancement opportunities. On Sept. 2, Dumas’ former 16th Sustainment Brigade company commander, Capt. Jonathan Coward, pinned the rank of captain on him during a short ceremony among a small group of friends and colleagues in the Joint Movement Control Center on M.K. Air Base.
Capt. Dumas has been supporting the transient passenger mission on M.K. since June as the RSE -21 operations officer. He is scheduled to attend the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course (CLC3) at Fort Lee, VA in November.
“I had originally planned to return to Houston with my wife and son to become a police officer,” said Dumas. “I've had a great experience here on M.K. It's basically one team with one mission, so mentorship has been readily available to us. I figure I will continue with the military until retirement.”
In February 2014, M. K. acquired much of the transient operations for Soldiers and Marines deploying in and out of Afghanistan as transient operations came to an end at Manas Air Base. The multimodal hub has already processed more than 2 tons of cargo and is scheduled to process its 100,000th service member soon.
