CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – This week’s U.S. Army Central Soldier Spotlight is Sgt. Peter Myers, a USARCENT Military Police noncommissioned officer and administrative noncommissioned officer in charge of the J30 section, Joint Forces Land Component Command.
Myers, a native of Huron, Ohio, is assigned to USARCENT’s Augmentation Company with four years of active duty, and four years of reserve service. Myers’ is almost two months into a one year deployment to Kuwait.
This is Myers’s fourth deployment. He is married to Gina Pennington, from Bahama, N.C.; they have no children. Myers plans to get apply to the Army Physician Assistant Program and purchase several acres of land in order to begin a small self-sustaining farm. Myers is also planning for promotion to Staff Sgt.
Q: What is your favorite movie genre?
A: Comedy, laughter is the best medicine.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Lamb chops, cooked medium-rare, with only salt and pepper.
Q: What are your goals?
A: To continue making progressive strives towards financial independence.
Q: What are you most proud of?
A: I am most proud of a Soldier who was added to my team on my last deployment, after several issues arose between her and her prior team leader. I was able to provide her with guidance, direction, and the mentorship she needed. She became a good soldier, took direction well, and she recently graduated top of her class with a paralegal associates degree and is now working towards attaining her bachelors so she can attend law school.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Hunting, fishing, hiking, sitting on the porch with my beautiful wife Gina, and playing with my dog Jethro.
Q: If you could spend one day working another job at USARCENT, what would it be?
A: It would be at Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion S1 so I could learn from the experts, and better serve the Soldiers of the J3 with their personnel actions.
