3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii – Thirty-two company commanders from 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division participated in a three-day company commander’s certification course taught by senior mentors covering the basics of live-fire exercises (LFX) and fires integrations.

The purpose of the course is to train and certify company commanders for high-risk tactical events.

Capt Adam C. Reams, Bravo Troop, 3rd Regiment 4th Cavalry, company commander, a native of Anaheim, California, said, “What I am looking to take away from this course is the ability to conduct safe, realistic training for my troops.”

Day one began with classroom instruction covering range operation and live-fire development. The training is a stepping stone toward the execution of collective training at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) in mid 2015.

“This is my first time going this in depth with this type of Infantry and live-fire range training,” said Capt. Reinaldo Aponte, Golf Forward Support Company, 3rd Regiment 7th Field Artillery Battalion, company commander, Caguas, Puerto Rico, native. “… That’s why it’s so important to me.”

Aponte also stated, “It’s good experience to learn how to build SDZ and range fans, I have never done this before.”

Over the next couple of days, the commanders will do a walk through range scenario where they utilize the skills they’ve learned.

“We will take what we learned in the classroom and apply it out on the range,” said Reams. “We will see the effects of what we learned and how to use the resources and assets that we have available to us in the best way possible.”
