CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti - Djiboutian military leaders and their families gathered with leaders from Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Camp Lemonnier and the U.S. Embassy for an iftar dinner July 7, 2014, at the Kempinski Hotel, Djibouti.

The dinner was an opportunity for key partners to come together in unity, build on existing relationships, and create new friendships.

During the observance of Ramadan, many Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. The fast is broken just after sunset with an Iftar meal.

U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Wayne Grigsby Jr., CJTF-HOA commanding general, spoke to the attendees during the dinner and commented that it was a great honor to celebrate with them.

Honored guests in attendance included Gen. Zakaria Cheikh Ibrahim, head of the Djiboutian army, and U.S. Ambassador Geeta Pasi.

To celebrate the feast, attendees ate a traditional Djiboutian meal that included Sambusa (fried or baked pastries with various fillings) and dates.
