FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. - A U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/ U.S. 10th Fleet (FCC/C10F) member was selected as a 2014 recipient of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) Leadership Award.

Teresa Duvall, network integration/CIO-2 division head, earned the award for her contributions in the information technology community.

“I am proud to be recognized,” said Duvall. “As a Leadership Award winner, I feel this is a direct reflection of those who have confidence in my ability to lead... and serve.”

The AFCEA Leadership Awards are given out annually to long-standing members of AFCEA with a record of sustained contributions to the association and exceptional leadership skills.

“I attribute my success to passion for the organization and being a part of a great and vibrant team, in this case, the AFCEA Hampton Roads Board of Directors,” said Duvall.

Members are non-paid volunteers, beyond the contribution of time and energy, each member of the team looks to make a difference in the Hampton Roads community.

“Our primary focus is related to supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) students and teachers in the Hampton Roads area, to whom we annually give scholarships and grants averaging more than $30, 000,” said Duvall.

AFCEA’s mission is to increase knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications, and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.

“As a member of the Navy team for more than 20 years, both as an active duty officer and government civilian, I have always been extremely satisfied to be able to make worthwhile contributions on behalf of the nation's defense,” said Duvall. “I look forward to continuing my service.”

Duvall will be officially presented the award at Cyber Symposium on June 23 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
