Story by Senior Master Sgt. Eric Peterson

    380th Air Expeditionary Wing

UNDISCLOSED LOCATION - Air Force Airmen assigned to the 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Group serving at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia include two members of a family from Baxley, Ga.

Airman 1st Class Tevin Fedrick, deployed from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, serves as an F-15 Eagle crew chief. His sister, Airman 1st Class Celecca Fedrick, deployed from her home base of Langley Air Force Base, Va., is a weapons specialist on the F-22 Raptor.

This is the first deployment for both Fedricks.

Having originally been stationed nearly 4,000 miles apart, they now find themselves working the short distance across an aircraft ramp from each other.

“It’s more comforting, having somebody there,” said Celecca. “We talk a lot and are pretty close.”

Tevin said at first his coworkers didn’t believe he had a sister assigned to the group. After seeing his sister participate in the morning FOD (foreign object damage) walks, they now believe him.

Their work shifts overlap but occasionally they find time during a break in the day to visit with each other.

“We’ve been catching up on lost time from when we’ve been apart from each other,” said Tevin.

Older brother Tevin joined the Air Force first.

“I really wanted to travel, that’s what I wanted to do,” said Tevin. “Travel, and then go to school.”

His sister, Celecca, followed in her older brother’s footsteps and joined the Air Force too.

“He influenced me a lot,” said Celecca.

For the future, the Fedricks are both interested in continuing their military service. Celecca is considering making the Air Force a career. Tevin would like to pursue a commission as a warrant officer in the Army and learn to fly helicopters.
