    412th Theater Engineer Command

FORT MCCOY, Wis. — The 412th and 416th Theater Engineer Commands are conducting a combined Best Warrior Competition here from April 27 to May 1.

Twenty-seven Soldiers and noncommissioned officers from throughout the country are competing for the chance at a spot in the U.S. Army Reserve Command’s Best Warrior competition slated for June. One enlisted Soldier and one NCO from each TEC will be chosen to represent the engineers at that level.

“Last year, at the USARC competition it was decided to combine the events to one place with more integration throughout the engineers to provide more support for commands working together,” said Master Sgt. Cory Chartier, operations noncommissioned officer, 479th Engineer Battalion and one of the primary planners for the TECs’ BWC.

Competitors will participate in a variety of Soldier skill tasks including weapon marksmanship with an M4 rifle and M9 pistols, an Army Physical Fitness Test, Urban Orienteering, a timed, six-mile foot march with a weighted rucksack, day and night land navigation courses, an exam and essay, Army Warrior Task stations, Army Combatives, an appearance in front of a sergeants major board and three mystery events.
