HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, N.Y. - A permit has been issued by the Town of Dewitt, approving a demonstration to take place near the main entrance of Hancock Field Air National Guard Base on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
The 174th Attack Wing respects the Constitutional rights of all citizens of the United States, and is committed to ensuring the safety of our community, the general public, and unit members.
At the request of local law enforcement agencies, the 174th Attack Wing will designate a portion of the base's federal property to be used for the limited purpose of a peaceful assembly in accordance with the issued permit.
The Hancock Field boundary, as defined by the 1942 deed filed at the Onondaga County Clerk's office, extends to the centerline of East Molloy Road. The designated area is outside the fence line, and will only be designated for the purpose of the April 27, 2014, demonstration due to the anticipated large number of participants.
The assembly area will be clearly identified by physical markers and a map has been provided to the Town of Dewitt for distribution to those in attendance.
The goal of this designated assembly area, voluntarily provided by the 174th Attack Wing, is to increase the safety of those in attendance, while also allowing the safe flow of traffic on Molloy Road and continued access to Hancock Field.
The 174th Attack Wing must ensure access to Hancock Field in order to continue our vital 24/7/365 mission of protecting our country's Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines in harm's way.
