    Michigan Army National Guard promotes Greenville Soldier

    GREENVILLE, Mich. - Ryan Tonning of Lakeview, Mich., has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the Michigan Army National Guard with Company Delta, 237th Brigade Support Battalion out of Wyoming, Mich.

    Tonning served as a wheeled vehicle mechanic with the Greenville based 1073rd Support Maintenance Company for 13 years. He has also been a member of the Michigan National Guard for 13 years receiving numerous military awards to include the Army Commendation Medal and five Army Achievement Awards.

    Tonning is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He completed two deployments: one from 2004-2005 and a second from 2009-2010.

    In civilian life, Tonning works for the Field Maintenance Shop 1 (FMS1) out of Grand Ledge.

    Tonning graduated from Lakeview High School in 2000.

    Tonning continues to receive the love and support from his wife, Laura, and their daughter, Tori.

    Tonning is the son of Robert Tonning, Lakeview, Mich.
