CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - The 53rd Transportation Battalion (Movement Control) out of Joint Base Langley–Eustis, Va., held an awards and casing ceremony marking the end of the unit’s deployment April 2 here.
“Our mission was to plan and synchronize intrinsic mobility movement control operations along the highways of Kuwait,” said Maj. James Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., acting commander of the 53rd Transportation. Bna'opm., 108th Sustainment Brigade.
The 53rd Transportation Battalion. was responsible for moving more than 80,000 troops and 30,000 pieces of cargo and equipment in and out of its area of operation. The battalion’s Soldiers worked around the clock to ensure the proper and timely transportation of cargo and personnel in Kuwait.
“The 53rd played a vital role in this area of responsibility and has done an outstanding job working with military and civilian transportation assets,” said Col. Drew Dukett of Roodhouse, Ill., commander of the 108th Sust Bde. “You can’t ask for a better unit, with their hard working Soldiers and dedicated leadership from the command team down to first line leaders, they have proven they can get the job done.”
