CAMP MUJUK, Pohang, Republic of Korea — Maj. Gen. Charles L. Hudson, commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, visited Marines and sailors March 26, at Camp Mujuk in Pohang, Republic of Korea.

During his visit, Hudson toured new containerized housing available for training units, as well as the permanent personnel and facilities of the camp.

“Camp Mujuk is the only Marine Corps installation on the Korean peninsula and is specifically here to facilitate bilateral and multilateral training opportunities between U.S. Marines and ROK Marines, but is also here to support any U.S. Marine exercise forces that come to the Korean peninsula to train or conduct exercises such as the Marine Expeditionary Force Exercise 2014, Ssang Yong 2014, Freedom Banner 2014 or any other exercise we may have scheduled,” said Hudson.

Hudson asked Marines aboard Camp Mujuk for Exercise Ssang Yong 14 for their feedback on Camp Mujuk’s current facilities.

“After talking with the leadership with III MEF Headquarters Group, they seemed very satisfied with the support they have received,” said Hudson. “We have come a long way over the last five to ten years in making Camp Mujuk a more stable platform to support theater security cooperation and support training exercises. But we still have things we can improve and we are working with Marine Forces Korea to enable this command, and location, to provide better support with different facilities.”

The name Mujuk is derived from the Korean word “invincible,” which symbolizes the ROK and U.S. Marine Corps brotherhood.
