Joint Task Force-Bravo's 1-228th welcomes local orphanage

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras - Members of 1-228th Aviation Regiment hosted the San Antonio Padua Boy's Home to Soto Cano Air Base for fun and games, March 22, 2014.

The San Antonio Padua Boy's home enjoyed a day at Soto Cano Air Base with the Winged Warriors of 1-228th Aviation Regiment. The boys visited the base fire station and learned how to don the fire protective gear.

"We feel like we can make a difference in these children's lives and at the same time it brings joy to our hearts that we can actually help them with a little of our time and effort," said U.S. Army Capt. Vincent Alcivar, 1-228th chaplain and coordinator of the event. "The Winged Warriors are very committed to making the lives of the San Antonio Boy's Home better and enjoyable, by providing friendship and mentorship on every monthly visit."

After visiting with the fire fighters, the boys spent some time at the base pool before heading to the dining facility for a delicious lunch. To end the day, the Winged Warriors treated the boys to the movie "Cars Two" at the post theater where they enjoyed popcorn and juice, before departing Soto Cano back to the boy's home.

1-228th Aviation Regiment regularly visits the San Antonio Padua Boy's Home bringing food, donating supplies, and providing mentorship to the young men.
