    80th Training Command (Reserve)

FORT KNOX, Ky. - Sgt. Ricky Barr of Covington, Ga., and assigned to the 9/108th Regiment, 1st Brigade, 94th Training Division, is one of 15 soldiers determined to earn the title of 80th Training Command (TASS) best warrior.

The 100th Training Division is hosting the event on Fort Knox, Ky., March 17-21 with various events testing the competitors' physical and mental fitness.

"I trained day in and day out to prepare for this best warrior competition," said Barr. "I was running, doing a lot of physical activities and studying warrior tasks and regulations."

The 15 soldiers were selected from among more than 6,800 Reserve soldiers assigned to the 80th TC's subordinate divisions.

"Sgt. Barr is extremely motivated and doing a great job," said Command Sgt. Maj. Gregory A. Cornejo, 9/108th Regiment, 1st Brigade, 94th Training Division senior enlisted leader. "He stepped up when asked to represent our battalion and detachments in the best warrior competition."

The final day of the competition, competitors completed training at the Fort Knox's Burcham Urban Assault Course.

The course consisted of soldiers receiving hands-on, practical training on the proper methods of clearing buildings, negotiating obstacles and crossing open terrain.

"The assault course was fun," Barr said. "I'm happy with how I've been doing in the competition and look forward to taking this training and knowledge back to my unit."

The 80th TC leadership will announce the winners in the enlisted and noncommissioned officer categories at the General George Patton Museum and Center of Leadership March 21.

The winners will represent the 80th TC in the United States Army Reserve Command Best Warrior Competition.
