    CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait. – The 452nd Combat Support Hospital hosted a joint information exchange with the Kuwaiti National Guard on the topic of “Hospital administration and operations.” Brig. Gen. Faleh Shujaa Faleh AlOtaibi, Maj. Turki Zaid AlJenfawi, Maj. Ibrahim Abdullah AlAbkal and other various medical specialists of the Kuwaiti National Guard were in attendance.

    AlOtaibi and his staff were greeted by the 452nd Combat Support Hospital command team, Col. Patricia Ten Haaf and Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Boldon, the 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support) command team, Col. Lisa Doumont and Command Sgt. Maj. Leroy Benavidez, and other medical command leaders.

    The information exchange began with an informative briefing by Ten Haaf, detailing the hospital’s capabilities and services provided on Camps Arifjan and Buehring. Ten Haaf also addressed U.S. Military Hospital-Kuwait’s relationship with host nation hospitals, and highlighted the 452nd Combat Support Hospital’s role in providing telemedicine to the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain.

    “Some of the unique missions that we have had the honor of supporting include providing medical support to Jordan and Qatar, managing the medical logistical operations center, performing aeromedical evacuations for Kuwait, and providing medical specialists to honor and take care of our wounded warriors,” said Ten Haaf.

    After the briefing, AlOtaibi and his staff were escorted to a number of different clinics within the hospital to greet 452nd Combat Support Hospital soldiers. The Kuwaiti National Guard members were specifically interested in touring the specialty clinic, pharmacy, behavior health and optometry departments.

    Following the tour, AlOtaibi expressed his interest in performing future information exchanges, and was pleased and impressed by the amount of preparation and work completed by the 452nd Combat Support Hospital. AlOtaibi ended his comments by thanking Ten Haaf and specifically expressing his desire to exchange information with physicians of different specialties.

    “The 3rd Medical Command coordinates information exchanges as a way to branch out culturally and professionally,” said Doumont. “The 452nd Combat Support Hospital is doing great work here at Camp Arifjan – and Camp Buehring – and their accomplishments and lessons learned should be shared with the greater medical community in Kuwait.”

    The 452nd Combat Support Hospital is assigned to run the United States Military Hospital - Kuwait. The 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support) has command and control over the medical assets within the entire area of operation, which includes 452nd Combat Support Hospital.
