BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – The 1107th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group of the Missouri National Guard, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, has been providing vital aviation repair and support for various aircraft here.

As the retrograde of troops and equipment continues throughout the theater of operations in Afghanistan, the need for air support is in no way diminished.

“We do everything from beaded-panel upgrades to battle-damage repairs,” said Sgt. Matthew Patey, an aviation sheet metal mechanic with the 1107th TASMG, 1st TSC and a Nixa, Mo. native. “We try to them as safely and as quick as possible because the ground troops depend on the aircraft.”

As contingency operations in theater are continuous and ongoing, the 1107th TASMG, 1st TSC has been working round the clock to complete their mission.

“The soldiers here have been working long and hard hours to produce a quality product,” said Patrick Lindy, a logistics assurance representative with Aviation Missile Command and an Oroville Wash. native. “The work that these guys do is critical to make sure the war-fighter can move around theater,”

The 1107th TASMG, 1st TSC’s contribution to combat-support and retrograde missions truly shows when it comes to the numbers.

“We have a 100 percent success rate,” said Lindy. “We had more than 130 maintenance engineering calls this past quarter. We were able to save the U.S. Army more than $4 milliion.”

As long as the 1107th TASMG, 1st TSC are at BAF, the mission needs of aircraft support are sure to be met.
