    U.S. Army Central

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – This week’s U.S. Army Central Soldier Spotlight is Spc. Raven Costilla, an information specialist, assigned to the 72nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion in Schweinfurt, Germany, currently deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. She is a native of Amarillo, Texas, and has served in the U.S. Army for two and-a-half years.

“I joined the Army to provide a better life for my son, who is now three. I’ve had good leadership so far, and it’s helped me develop my computer skills,” said Costilla.

Q: What is your favorite movie genre?

A: Romantic comedies. It’s nice to have something to hope for – relationship wise.

Q: What is your favorite food?

    A: Schnitzels.

    Q: What are your goals?

A: My goal is to join the Peace Corps and travel the world with my son; give him a better idea of the opportunities he has in the United States and that it isn’t the same everywhere.

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: I am very proud of the Christmas decorations we put in our hallway. I don’t have a creative bone in my body and that area has been my focus for the last week, and it looks awesome!

    Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I enjoy the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and the modern Army Combatives Program. I can’t commit to the gym, so I have to find something that gives me a decent workout.

Q: If you could spend one hour with anyone, who would it be and why?

A: I would spend an hour with Tina Fey or Ellen Page. A lot of my friends and family compare me to them, personality wise, and I would like to see if they are really the way people perceive them. I would also like to compare them to me, to see if they are right.
