    Special operations kandak detain four, clears Khogyani

    NANGARHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Afghan National Security Forces detained four suspected insurgents during a village clearing operation in Khogyani district Dec. 24.

    Commandos with 1st Special Operations Kandak arrested the suspected insurgents after interviewing some of the villagers.

    “We conducted clearing operations [in Chino village] to eliminate insurgent activities and take back places under Taliban control,” said Lt. Col. Mussoud Stanakzai, 1st SOK commander.

    These counterinsurgency missions assist national and local police in their efforts to increase security, governance and development.

    “We have secured this area so that people can live peacefully and safely from Taliban threat,” said Stanakzai.

    All detainees were transferred to Khogyani district National Directorate of Security officials.
