    1st Mission Support Command

FORT BUCHANAN, Puerto Rico - The United States Army Reserve Command recently announced that Jose R. Burgos has been hired as the new Command Executive Officer at the 1st Mission Support Command, US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico, with headquarters at Fort Buchanan.

The Command Executive Officer position is the senior General Schedule civilian position in the US Army Reserve in the island, and is a military technician position.

Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.

"I am thankful for this incredible opportunity to continue serving, not only as a Citizen Soldier but to also participate in the US Army Reserve Military Technician Program,” said Burgos.

Since Burgos is also the 1st Mission Support Command Commanding General, this hiring action streamlines the mission command, command priorities and the supervision of daily operations in the largest US Army Reserve command in the region.

“There are no doubts that, being the Command Executive Officer and the Commanding General, will allow me a better opportunity to effectively impact our operations,” added Burgos.

The 1st MSC Command Executive Officer vacancy was announced at the USA Jobs website, the federal government's official job list, in recent months, for a period of two weeks.

Burgos was selected after a very competitive selection process that included a panel interview.

He will now conduct an organized transition with Miguel A. Isaac, current Command Executive, who retires after 30 years of service.

Burgos is scheduled to start his new duties as the 1st MSC Command Executive Officer, Dec. 16, 2013.

The Command Executive Officer is in charge of establishing programs to meet command’s priorities, developing broad plans for force structure and force modernization activities and supervising the daily operations of the command, through subordinate supervisors and leaders, among other duties.
