VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Headquarters and Service Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, conducted a six-mile conditioning hike aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Fort Story Friday Sept. 27.
According to Col. Paul Ryan, commanding officer, HQSVBN, the hike was an opportunity, on a not to interfere with MARFORCOM mission basis, for a safe and motivating hike to test the Marines, Sailors and civilians endurance and increase the unit's combat readiness.
The Marines were flown to Fort Story aboard the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters of Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 774. The Marines then tested their mettle on the sandy trail before executing values based training.
After the training evolution the Marines were bussed back to Camp Allen where they were treated to barbeque, volleyball and bean bag toss.
