HOUSTON — Coast Guard crews searched by air and sea Wednesday for a man that is missing presumably off Bolivar Peninsula.

They were searching for a man of Asian descent, about 50 years of age, and they request the public's help identifying and locating him. Other fishermen off Bolivar have seen him fishing there before.

A Galveston-Bolivar ferry captain reported seeing an unmanned craft which started the search. A Coast Guard crew from Station Galveston located the small homemade looking craft near the Bolivar Ferry terminal at 9:19 a.m. The craft had bait and a bamboo pole inside which prompted a more extensive search with an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Houston.

The Coast Guard suspended the search in the afternoon, pending any further information.

The Coast Guard requests that if anyone has seen the missing man or knows who he is, they should contact the Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders at (713) 671-5113.
