TRANSIT CENTER AT MANAS, Kyrgyzstan - Col. John "J.C." Millard assumed command of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing from Col. Corey J. Martin during a change of command ceremony here June 13.
Local dignitaries from the Kyrgyz Republic and the international diplomatic community attended the ceremony, including Ambassador Pamela Spratlen, U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, who presented the opening remarks.
"This is an opportunity for us to recognize you publicly, Colonel Martin, for your role in what we have accomplished together over this past year," Spratlen said. "Every day you and the dedicated airmen of the 376th Air [Expeditionary] Wing, that you lead, contribute to the stability of this region and the world through Operation Enduring Freedom. We honor you, your service and appreciate the sacrifices you make."
Lt. Gen. David L. Goldfein, commander, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, Southwest Asia, officiated over the ceremony.
"Colonel J.C. Millard brings the perfect skillset and leadership and experience necessary to guide this wing," Goldfein said. "Congratulations and we are thrilled to welcome you to the AFCENT team."
In his new position, Millard takes on the roles of both commander of the 376 AEW and the director of the Transit Center at Manas. He comes here from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., where he served as the commander of the 60th Operations Group.
"This event has been a wonderful welcome to the Transit Center at Manas," Millard said. "To the men and women of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing, I am proud and honored to be a part of your great team."
