FORWARD OPERATING BASE SPIN BOLDAK, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Pfc. Tyler G. Hanisch, a field artilleryman with 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, is currently serving with Combined Task Force 1-6 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak.
Hanisch, a native of Sachse, Texas, and a graduate of Sachse High School, arrived in theater in July 2013. He has served in the military for one year and this is his first deployment.
Hanisch is the night shift fires non-commissioned officer. He assesses the need for and coordinates indirect fire operations during his shift.
He is married to Samantha Broeske Hanisch and talks with her regularly using social media.
Hanisch already has big plans for his return home.
“My wife and I got married on April 2. It was a small wedding, just us and a few family members,” said Hanisch. “What we are planning when I get home is to have a much bigger wedding.”
Hanisch’s deployment will last from nine to 12 months. Once complete, he will return to his wife at Fort Knox.
