    A Bay Shore, N.Y., native deployed to the Helmand province from Camp Lejeune, N.C., with Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Regional Command (Southwest), in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, July 9.

    While in Afghanistan, Cpl. Kevin Tunney, a motor transportation operator, will provide logistical support to forward deployed Marines, U.S. allies and advise the Afghan National Security Forces in developing their own logistical capabilities.

    Tunney said he contributes to his unit’s mission by, “leading the Marines under my charge and performing my motor transport billet to the best of my ability.”

    Tunney is a Marine Reservist with 6th Communications Battalion out of Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated Connetquot High School in Bohemia, N.Y., and studied for his associates at Suffolk County Community College in Sheldon, N.Y.
