MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - An auto industry career exposition is scheduled for Aug. 5 at the Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

The job fair is designed to support veterans and to give them an opportunity to find secure, meaningful employment and careers after their military service, said Jason Hejlik, a military admissions representative with Universal Technical Institute and an organizer for the event.

“The military provides a foundation of skills that veterans can transfer to the workforce, including discipline, punctuality, dedication, and commitment to results,” said Hejlik. “Because of this, many of the employers that Universal Technical Institute works with specifically seek out veterans to hire into their companies.”

Service members seeking work as auto technicians, sales representatives, service managers and other auto related work with less than one year of active duty service left in the military are welcome to attend the event.

Job seekers should bring multiple copies of their resume to the career exposition, said Hejlik.

The event will be hosted by Universal Technical Institute, an educational institution, and Ford dealerships throughout the Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina region.

The auto dealerships are seeking military personnel who are transitioning out of the military to fill their ranks.

“We value their service to our great nation,” said Hejlik. “(Service members also) bring the value of their rigorous military training to the employer, which provides the foundation for them to be successful in their chosen careers paths.”

Hejlik said he hopes service members feel valued for the skills they have learned while serving in the military, and that they can make connections with employers for future job opportunities.

Access to the fair is limited to Marines and sailors from Wounded Warrior Battalion – East from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Other military personnel are invited to attend between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

For more information call Hejlik at 305-3706 or email jhejlik@uti.edu.
