    102d Public Affairs Detachment

TARIN KOT, AFGHANISTAN – Master Sgt. Trinidad Cantu, operations sergeant major with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, is currently serving with Combined Team Uruzgan at Multinational Base - Tarin Kot, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Cantu, a native of San Antonio, Texas, and a graduate of Judson High School and Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, arrived in theater in November 2012. Cantu has served in the military for 20 years. This is his second deployment.

Many soldiers have been away from their families for important holidays, and with Father’s Day approaching, Cantu had a few words for his father, Trinidad, his wife, Maria, and daughter, Rosa.

"I want to say Happy Father’s Day to my dad,” Cantu said. “To my wife and daughter, I love you very much and I am thinking of you every day. I will be home soon and I expect the Menudo to be ready when I arrive; your loving husband and father."

Cantu is scheduled to return to Fort Stewart, Ga., in the next few months.
