HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Forty-six recruits graduated from the Afghan Local Police training course in Kajaki district, Helmand province, May 25.
The Afghan National Police conducted the three week course for which they trained ALP recruits in drill and ceremony, weapons techniques, clearing operations, counter improvised explosive device training and other security tactics and procedures.
District leadership hosted the graduation ceremony for the new ALP members at the Kajaki Police Headquarters. Key leaders attending the ceremony included Kajaki District Governor Haji Abdul Razi, Kajaki District Chief of Police (DCOP) Mullah Haji Faizullah Akhundzada, ALP commanders and village elders.
During his speech, DCOP Akhundzada emphasized the importance of the ALP and thanked them for their support of Afghan and coalition security forces. He expressed his gratitude towards the ANP trainers for instructing the ALP and for their contributions to continued security and protection of the district.
Afghan Local Police complement counterinsurgency efforts by assisting and supporting rural areas with limited Afghan National Security Force presence, enabling conditions for improved security, governance and development.
