BELTON, Texas - Soldiers and families from the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and the 4th Sustainment Brigade gathered to celebrate the warming weather at the unit’s annual Bluebonnet Ball in Belton, Texas, May 18.
Attendees at the event enjoyed a wide range of festivities from karaoke to a variety of competitive games and challenges to a delicious barbeque feast of brisket, chicken and sausage with all the trimmings.
The theme of the night encouraged participants to arrive in their favorite cowboy hats and boots for a casual and relaxed evening.
“It’s an important event for the 13th ESC to come together, relax and have a good time while building esprit de corps and camaraderie within the ESC,” said Capt. Paolo Raphael, officer in charge of the Bluebonnet Ball, 13th ESC. “However, the biggest thing we wanted to achieve was to ensure that everyone who came out enjoyed the event and felt it was a good time well spent.”
“The Bluebonnet Ball is really focused on trying to get people together, building the team, and it’s a casual environment which helps encourage a lot more people to come out and have fun,” said Brig. Gen. Clark W. LeMasters Jr., commanding general of 13th ESC.
He also added that it was important to take this break during a busy time for the 13th ESC.
“We’re all out here having a good time. We work hard, there are a lot of things going on at Fort Hood right now that this unit is responsible for, but there is still time to come out here and relax a little bit, bring our families in, share a little food, some fun and have a great time,” he said.
