    7th Mission Support Command

    KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Gen. Dennis L. Via, the commanding general of the U.S. Army Materiel Command with headquarters at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., visited the leaders and soldiers of the 7th Civil Support Command, May 4.

    Via’s visit to the 7th CSC was part of his tour of various U.S. military units and theater commands in Europe, most notably with the 21st Theater Sustainment Command.

    Brig. Gen. Paul M. Benenati, commanding general, 7th CSC, and deputy commanding general, 21st TSC, from Mechanicsville, Va., briefed Via on the Army Reserve soldier and the command’s foreign consequence management mission and capabilities.

    Via was also treated to a static equipment display tour and capabilities demonstration by the 773rd Civil Support Team, commanded by Lt. Col. Leslie M. Dillard, a native of Huntsville, Ala.

    “General Via’s visit is a special treat. It is a once-in-a-career opportunity for Army Reserve soldiers. As one of only 11 four-star generals in the U.S. Army, we are honored to have him as a guest and learn from his insights,” said Benenati.

    Via commended the Army Reserve soldiers for their sacrifices, contributions to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their continued commitment to the nation.

    The 7th CSC is the only Army Reserve unit headquartered in Europe which allows a unique capability to provide trained and ready consequence management, command and control, civil support teams and civil affairs capabilities to U.S. Army Europe.
