Outgoing commander, Brig. Gen. Christopher R. Kemp, handed command to, incoming commander, Col. James M. Chatfield in front of family, friends, and soldiers.

“It’s pretty difficult to give you up, I cannot express the gratitude of the last three years,” said Maj. Gen. Lawrence W. Brock III, 335th Signal Command (Theater), East Point, Ga. “Once again you’ve answered the call. You are where your country and your nation needs you right now.”

Chatfield’s previous assignments include the plans and operations officer of the 359th TTSB, and then became the deputy brigade commander for the brigade at Fort Gordon, Ga.

“I’m honored to take this role as commander, and I consider it a great privilege to be given this opportunity to serve as the leader of this incredible formation,” Chatfield said.

The 359th TTSB, headquartered at Fort Gordon, Ga., commands more than 1,400 soldiers in two signal battalions, five direct reporting units made up of a signal company, combat camera company, mobile public affairs detachment, and two military history detachments across seven states, which include Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia.

Chatfield graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelors degree in Mathematics and Computers Science and is a certified Project Management Professional. He commissioned in May 1988.
