    BACKGROUND ON HOMETOWN HERO:
Lipe is originally from Portage, Ind., however, he considers Paragould Ark. home. This is where his mother Lorrie Lipe currently resides. Lipe is a cyber-transport systems journeyman assigned to the 744th Communications Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, Md.

After graduating from high school Lipe continued his education attending Universal Technical Institute, majoring in automotive technology. Once he graduated he began working at the Nissan Automotive Group, where he earned two certifications in Automotive Service Excellence. Two years later, influenced by his cousin and favorite uncle, Lipe felt the need to serve his country. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September 2009.

Lipe graduated basic training with honors, soaring to the top 10 percent of his 300 class members. After basic training, Lipe was assigned to Keesler AFB, Miss. His hard work paid off, and he earned the distinguished graduate award for electronic principles.

After graduating technical school, Lipe was assigned to Andrews, where his duties include maintaining Presidential and White House communications circuits, Defense Information Systems Agency equipment and Secretary of Defense Data links in the Global Information Grid Facility. In addition, Lipe is also one of two unit deployment managers for 350 members assigned to the 844th Communications Group. Since taking on this responsibility, he has personally prepared 22 Airmen for their deployments.

As part of the 744th CS team, Lipe’s countless efforts helped contribute to the work center’s 2012 Team Andrews award. During his time at Andrews, he has been recognized with many awards including Airman of the Quarter for the 744th CS and 844th CG.
