MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. - Maj. Erik Tyler and Colour Sgt. Glyn Luke, staff members of the Officer Candidates School, participated in a Sumo wrestling contest during OCS’ Spring Fling event aboard Marines Corps Base Quantico on April 7, 2013.
It was a two-hour event filled with back-to-back family competitions, a bake-off and an egg hunt. The competitions included a sack race, dizzy bat race, egg race, tug of war and a 3-legged race. There were also two moon bounces and a bubble machine for the younger children. “We are a tight knit family here,” said Col. Kris Stillings, commanding officer, OCS. “It’s been a tough couple of weeks and we thought that it was important to bring the families together. There is nothing that can heal people better than children laughing and having a good time.”
