KUNDUZ PROVINCE, Afghanistan – The first Warduj district Afghan Local Police class graduated at a ceremony in Imam Sahib district, Kunduz province on March 19.
Afghan Local Police assist and support Afghan National Security Forces to enable conditions for improved security, governance and development in Afghanistan’s rural areas.
One hundred and fifty recruits became officers after completing the three-week training for which Afghan National Security Forces instructed marksmanship, patrolling and other police skills. The officers were also trained on human rights, the Afghan Constitution and the Afghan Rule of Law.
“You are an essential part of the security of Afghanistan,” said Takhar province’s National Directorate of Security Chief. “Warduj’s security depends on you and you should feel proud and serve loyally.”
The new officers will return to Warduj at a critical time. Reportedly, over 200 families have been displaced due to fear of a Taliban insurgency.
