2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division
CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait -- A Soldier from 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, commitment to improving Soldiers lives led him to reenlist indefinitely at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Jan. 17.
Soldiers in the rank of staff sergeant, who have been on continuous active duty for a period of 10 years or longer and are in the reenlistment window, must reenlist for an indefinite period of service, according to Staff Sgt. Rhonda Hatton of Basile, La., a career counselor for 15th Brigade Support Battalion.
When a Soldier reenlists indefinitely they choose the date of their estimated time of separation and must apply for retirement.
"This gives me a chance to actually take care of the combat Soldiers," said Houston native Staff Sgt. Michael Robinson, a personnel services sergeant.
Robinson, who has been in the Army for nearly 13-and-a-half years, said he enjoys his job and loves seeing the smiles on people's faces when administrative stuff gets taken care off.
"He makes me look good," said Charleston, W. Va., native Capt. Phillip Rathbun, the battalion adjutant for 1st Bn., 5th Cav. Regt. "This is what he does, and he enjoys what he does."
Robinson plans on putting in an officer candidate school packet and wants to stay in the career field he is in now.
"He is there when you need him," said Austin, Texas, native Spc. Carlos Briceno, a human resource specialist for 1-5. "He knows his stuff real well."
