    KABUL, Afghanistan — A joint Afghan National Security Force and International Security Assistance Force operation helped Afghan people Nov. 17 in Kala village, Qalat district, Zabul.

    During Operation Mountain Spring, ANSF and ISAF soldiers met with village elders and distributed food and clothes.

    The children received bags of school supplies, which had been donated by the Romanian organization "Save the Children." Families also received food supplies, blankets and winter clothes. This operation was a step in preparing the villages for the forthcoming winter months.

    Major Ovidiu Pop, commander of the 30th Mountain Battalion "Dragoslavele," welcomed the opportunity to help the Afghans in the village.

    "It is very good to have the joint forces here to help our people," said Haji Bismillah, Kala village leader. "We are supporting of the Afghan government, the ANSF and ISAF because they provide stability and security in our village."
