KABUL, Afghanistan – Camp Eggers' service members enjoyed breakfast with a congressional delegation including Representatives Steve Israel, D-N.Y., Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., Michael Arcuri, D-N.Y., and Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y., during their visit, Oct. 13, 2008, to Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan headquarters.

Rep. Shelly Berkley said she was pleased to see happy and energetic troops, citing that morale seemed especially high on Camp Eggers.

"Meeting with the troops puts our jobs back home in perspective," said Berkley. "It was a pleasure to spend time with service members from our military. Both Democrats and Republicans come together for them."

Throughout their visit the representatives met with service members from their respective states.

Army Sgt. Dillworth Brooks, a supply Soldier from Queens, N.Y., said the visit gave the troops better visibility with their leaders.

"I think visits by our civilian leadership give the average Soldier a larger voice," said Brooks. "It also gives everyone reassurance, especially with the economic turmoil the country is experiencing. It is good to know they care."

The visit was part of the delegation's trip to American forces commands in central and eastern Afghanistan. In Kabul, the delegation was briefed by Gen. David McKiernan, International Security Assistance Force commanding general, and Maj. Gen. Robert Cone, CSTC-A commanding general.
