CAMP STRIKER, Iraq – Members of the Sons of Iraq turned over small weapons caches to Iraqi army soldiers during a coordinated medical engagement in Abu Osage, about 30 kilometers southwest of Baghdad, May 8.
More than 165 Iraqis received care from medics with 1st Battalion, 25th Brigade, 6th IA Division and 3rd Platoon, Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. The medics were informed the SoI had found two small caches in the area.
The caches contained one 105 mm artillery round, one 120 mm mortar round, one Russian 73 mm projectile, 108 mortar primers and one surface-to-air rocket launcher.
The munitions were taken to the Lutifiyah IA Compound for disposal at a later date.
