Professor James Schaefer, chair of the School of Criminal Justice, Fire Science, and EMS at Lake Superior State University and Capt. Steve Teschendorf, commander of Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., sign a volunteer service agreement July 9, 2013, that will allow LSSU students to volunteer at Sector Sault Ste. Marie. This new program is intended to acquaint students with various Coast Guard missions and also provides them an opportunity to work with Coast Guard members while exploring career opportunities within the federal government.
