Leaving a firearm unsecured in the home is like handing a loaded weapon to an infant. In 2007, there were more than 120 unintentional child deaths as a result of a firearm, and more than 1,000 injuries requiring intensive hospitalization. These tragedies highlight the importance of learning about gun safety and discussing gun safety with your family. While the military encourages its members to exercise their constitutional rights, be sure to educate yourself on proper safety and specific regulations that may apply in the community you live or on your base or station. You can contact your base or station's Provost Marshals Office for more information. (Official DoD Photo by Sgt. Scott Schmidt)
