Maj. Gen. Aundre Piggee, 21st Theater Sustainment Command commanding general, presents the Purple Heart to Capt. Lance Royce, 709th Military Police Battalion chief of operations, during an award ceremony Oct. 3 in Grafenwoehr, Germany. The secretary of the Army awarded Capt. Royce the Purple Heart in March of 2012 for injuries sustained during an improvised explosive device explosion in November 2004, where he was deployed as a Sergeant to Fallujah in support of Operation Phantom Furry.
