Nathaniel Machowski, a combat engineer and a Denver, Colo., native, assigned to the 55th Mobility Augmentation Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, leans in for a kiss from his daughter, Kirsten, 5, at the unit’s welcome home ceremony, Feb. 5, at Davidson Fitness Center. Machowski and more than 90 of his comrades returned from a 12 month deployment in Afghanistan, where they conducted route clearance operations.
