Maj. Gen. Ronald L. Bailey, commanding general, 1st Marine Division, presented awards to career planners from around the division during the annual career planning awards luncheon in Las Pulgas, Jan. 30. Among the awards presented were the commanding general's certificate of appreciation and plaque for the career retention specialist of the year, the Guadalcanal trophy for the regimental sized unit that attains the highest fiscal year retention rate, the Inchon trophy award to the infantry or artillery battalion that attains the highest fiscal year retention rate, and the Hue City trophy awarded to the separate battalion that attains the highest fiscal year retention rate. Bailey also awarded individual career retention specialists who significantly contributed to their unit achieving their assigned objectives for fiscal year 2011 with a certificate of appreciation.
