U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, Karl W. Eikenberry, and his wife are greeted by German Army Maj. Gen. Markus Kneip, commander, Regional Command North on Camp Marmal during a visit to the region. Ambassador Eikenberry's visit included meetings with the governor of Mazar-e-Sharif as well as a visit to the site of the new American embassy. ISAF's mission is to provide support to Afghanistan in creating a functioning government and administration structure, while preserving Afghan traditions and culture.
