Afghan Air Force Mi-17s can carry as much as 4,000 kilograms as well as bulky or oversized cargo externally using the sling load cargo delivery method. While each sortie in Zabul averaged just 1,500 kilograms, they accomplished the mission safer and faster than internally loading the same cargo.
