In April, Abbasi assumed command of CTF 150 from the Royal Australian Navy, responsible for conducting maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Red Sea and Indian Ocean. CTF 150 reports to Commander, Combined Maritime Forces Vice Adm. Mark Fox, and is one of three task forces charged with patrolling more than 2.5 million square miles of international waters to conduct both integrated and coordinated operations to increase the security and prosperity in the region.
