Opting to leave the lights off and taking other measures to conserve energy can both help the environment and ensure the air station does not exceed its energy consumption limits. High tempuratures and excess energy use increase the risk of load shedding, which is the periodic shut down of air-conditioning for up to 20 minutes at a time to ensure the air station stays within its allotted energy limitations.
