Sgt. Milton Guzman, center, from Manhattan, N.Y., attempts to "pass the guard" of Sgt. 1st Class Adam Bills, from Ligonier, Pa., in order to gain the dominant body position. Gaining the dominant body position over the opponent is one of the three basic fighting principles taught during the 40 hour class, which also include closing the distance between fighter and opponent and finishing the fight.
