Petty Officer 1st Class Robert Pippins, Seaman Dave Britton and Petty Officer Lomond Johnson conduct a functional check on Aqueous Film Forming Foam for the bilges of USS Wasp's forward Main Machinery Room under the watchful eye of Lt. Michael Wall of Expeditionary Strike Group 2. Checks such as this, conducted by non-Wasp personnel, provide valuable practice, training, and guidance for Wasp Sailors as they prepare for their upcoming Board of Inspection and Survey assessment scheduled for March 2010. Wasp is currently deployed on Southern Partnership Station-Amphib with Destroyer Squadron 40 and embarked Security Cooperation Marine Air-Ground Task Force. Southern Partnership Station is part of the Partnership of the Americas Maritime Strategy that focuses on building interoperability and cooperation in the region to meet common challenges.
