First Lt. Elyse Ping Medvigy, a native of Sebastopol, Calif., who serves as a fire support officer with Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Inf. Brigade Combat Team, 4th Inf. Division, conducts a call-for-fire during an artillery shoot south of Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 22, 2014. Ping is the first female company fire support officer to serve in an Infantry Brigade Combat Team supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The event provided training for the 1-12 Inf. as well as allowed 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regt., 4th IBCT, 4th Inf.
