Sgt. Ian Trenkel, communications chief for the air support element of Marine Detachment 18, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, provides security after disembarking a KC-130H during "Operation Nightingale." The goal of the exercise was to give the detachment practice in establishing a landing zone and establish the ability to control aircraft in a combat zone. It was the first time the detachment has conducted this type of training.
