Retired Lt. Gen. Keith W. Dayton, director of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, and German air force retired Maj. Gen. Hermann Wachter, Marshall Center’s German deputy director, greet the recently-elected Mayor of Garmisch-Parkenkirchen Dr. Sigrid Meierhofer May 12 at the Marshall Center here. Meierhofer talked with Dayton and Wachter, toured the facilities, and learned the mission and vision of the Marshall Center during her first visit here. Meierhofer took office as the Garmisch-Parkenkirchen Mayor May 1. The mission of the Marshall Center is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships, especially in the field of defense; promoting active, peaceful security cooperation; and enhancing enduring partnerships among the nations of North America, Europe and Eurasia.
